WASTE STREAMS

  • Recyclables, such as cardboard, car batteries and metals (including white goods and electronics) are accepted
  • Our aim is to extract as much recyclable material as possible from the waste in order to avoid land-filling
  • Fees are charged according to the type of waste. Additional charges apply for oil, tyres, gas bottles and bed bases/mattresses with springs
  • Some recyclables are accepted free of charge
  • Asbestos and polystyrene are not accepted under any circumstances

METAL PRICING

Prices are reviewed monthly and are based on a combination of indices:

  • Tex Report for Ferrous Metals (scrap Steel C&F Japan)
  • LME (London Metal Exchange) for Non-Ferrous Metals
  • Indices are published in $USD
  • Conversion to $AUD using the monthly average Reserve Bank of Australia official exchange rate

The preceding monthly averages of these indices form the basis for the current month prices.

After deducting all costs incurred by Future Recycling for the collection, capital cost, overheads, processing, transport and a margin, the residual is paid as a rebate for the materials collected. This residual is calculated as a percentage of the C&F average (in $AUD) and used every month for the life of the contract.
